How To Setup A Minecraft Java Server

When making the Minecraft server, there are plenty of possibilities. This guide is currently covering how to set up an Survival Multiplayer Server without mods. get spout ‘ll be releasing additional guides in the near future on how to create a server with mods.

Create a Vanilla Survival Multiplayer Server (MSP)

Follow these steps and you should have a public Minecraft Java server up in no time.

1. Download and install Java Java

Oracle offers the most recent Java version for download.

2. Download the official Minecraft Server

This is minecraft.net’s download page.

3. Create a folder to store your Minecraft server

This folder can be named and located anywhere you’d like. I do recommend making it something easy and simple to locate. I like calling the folder minecraft-server and placing it in my home/User folder.

4. Install your Minecraft server folder

Transfer the server.jar file you downloaded to your minecraft folder

On Windows Create an entirely new file called run.bat. Windows: Create a batch file (.bat).

Create a new file called run.sh on MacOS or Linux

Edit the file and set the text to be your default text.

5. Create your server and accept the EULA

With your run file now created Let’s begin the server.

Windows Double-click on your run.bat folder

On MacOS or Linux you can open the terminal to your Minecraft server folder and run bash ./run.sh.

The command line should show logs. The folder for your Minecraft server will now be filled with new files. Find and open the file eual.txt and replace eula=false with eula=true.

6. Connect and run to your server

After you have been approved by the eula, you can restart your server. Then, open Minecraft and connect using 127.0.0.1.25565. If you’re unable connect, ensure that your server is running. If all is well and you’re unsure of the reason you’re not able to connect and you’re not sure why, you can seek assistance via our discord.

7. Make your server public

Now you can connect to your server remotely. Let’s make it accessible to friends so that they can join. Check out the interactive guide.
